St Muirtagh founded the monastery here. There is a great cashel (partly restored), 4 Churches, 3 beehive huts, 5 altars & pillar stones, prayer stones, 2 cells, grave Slabs and a Holy Well. In short there is a whole island of remains. The island was evacuated only in 1948 OS 16 560/80 530/45 |
