Tara

County Meath

Tara, with Slane, is the reputed site of St Patrick’s iconic clash with the High King of Ireland by lighting an Easter fire. No one can tell how much history and how much legend is in this dramatic story. The story does say that the King allowed St Patrick to preach throughout the kingdom; he did preach - and could only have done so with the king’s consent. There are several wells, one dedicated to St Patrick
