Ardoley (Oughavale)

County Mayo

On the N side of the main road the church which had origins going back to St Patrick has gone but a Bullaun Stone called 'Gloonpatrick' remains . On the S side is a mediaeval church; St Columba's Holy Well lies behind it at the foot of a large elm. However the latter is not now accessible.

'Oughavale' means 'new settlement'. This would suggest that a Patrician was followed by a Columban one.
