St Fintan (603), a hermit founded a monastery here. It was later
the home of 'Oengus the Celi De'. In the graveyard are many slabs fixed
to the wall and the Holy Tree which has a water-filled groove in one of
its lower branches which never dries up; there are coins embedded in
its trunk. The later church is on the other side of the road.
