 County Kerry (Iveragh Peninsula)

The Priory lies on the south shore of Ballinskelligs Bay. It was founded in 1210 from Ratoo in North Kerry. Before that those who had hitherto lived on Great Skellig settled here due to the conditions then experienced on the Rock. Thereafter Great Skellig remained in the hands of the Priory.
