Clochan na Carriage

County Galway

This is a very fine complete specimen of a clochan, sometimes call ‘bee-hive’ huts. ‘na carriage’ means ‘stone hut of the rock’. They have been built for over the last 1500 years in Ireland but no one knows when this one was built and exactly for whom.
