Omey Island

Connemara, County Galway

St Fechin (7C) founded the monastery here on this beautiful island. There is a mediaeval church which was only discovered in the sands in 1981. Being sunken in a hollow in the sand it is very hard to find until you almost step on it. There is a delightful holy well.
