Connemara, County Galway

St Colman and 60 or so monks from Lindisfarne in Northumbria founded a new monastery on the island in 667 in the aftermath of the Synod of Whitby regarding the date of Easter. There is now a mediaeval church on site, 2 cross slabs, 2 holy wells and a bullaun stone.
