St Conal’s Slabs

County Donegal

After St Conal (496) had died the island of Iniskeel became the focus of pilgrims from far and wide. To help them across the mountainous and coastal terrain of West Donegal several Cross Slabs are to be found to guide and encourage pilgrims on their way to Iniskeel and Glencolumbkille.

'There are also a group on Loughross Point possibly used as a ‘Round’ of prayer; there can be found at Drumirrin, Newtownburke, (3), Crannogeboy and Cloghboy.
