Iniskeel

County Donegal

St Conal (596) founded a monastery on the island. He buried his colleague St Dallan (594) here. There are 2 churches, St Conal’s and St Mary’s (12) with several Cross Slabs, grave slabs and St Conal’s ‘Bed’. Iniskeel was the desired destination for many pilgrims and there are several Cross Slabs to indicate this (qv. St Conal’s Slabs)
