St Columba was born here in 521. There are slight remains of a Columban monastery in the graveyard, a Holy Well and Cross Slabs associated with the ‘rounds’ or ‘turas’, one outside the graveyard on a hillock. The church outside is 16C. OS 6 058 187 marked Not far away, at Lucknacoo, is the Stone said to be the birthplace of St Columba.
