Drumlane

County Cavan

St Maedoc (626) (also called St Mogue) is said to have founded a monastery here in the 6C, though some say the foundation preceded him. He was a pupil of St David of Wales. There is a Round Tower and remains of the later abbey. There are some original grave markers in the cemetery and a later grave slab inside the buildings.

The 11C Shrine of St Maedoc is in the NMI.
